Well happy summer...and here's to you, our fans for supporting us over the last while. We will return to the scene in the winter some time. Right now we are off working on new songs, other projects & two of our members are getting or have just gotten married. Not to each other.
The fan support has been great and we will have great things ready for you in the near future. Be on the lookout for some of our other projects in the mean time such as BunkMusic and White Car Mafia.
Have a great summer!!!

OK, so I fell asleep again...Actually I have been away for a bit, I came back from a trip to Australia at the begining of April and have been catching up some things since. Just the other day I turned 30 so I getting up there it age, but still rockin!
We have a few new tunes that we are working out, as well Blaine & I have been reworking some of our live gear (ie: effects pedals and so on) to make sure we sound extra good live.
Speaking of live, we hope to have a few shows soon, as well we plan to record this year and plus Blaine & Ian are both getting married this summer. Damn we're busy.
12.10.06
As I said before, A long time it has been between updates. George is well, all is well. We hope all is well with you as well.
New songs on the horizon, and some shows of note. Check to the left to get yer fill of live George. We will be making an appearance on our good friend Broose's radioshow "Beer For Breakfast" on Dec. 23/06. Should be a great time. We will be playing some new songs acoustically and talking about the weather.
Blaine is the proud owner of a new amp. After our last gig at Shannon's his old Peavy TNT 100 has been on the fritz. So he has done some research and has bought a brand new Traynor head & cabinet. So beware, our next show may knock you flat on your ass. He has yet to give it a nickname, but I think "Thundercat" would be fitting.
Other than that we should be taking some time in the new year to enjoy the finer things in life...such as canned spray cheese on salteen crackers! Hooraa!
10.04.06
A long time it has been between updates. I usually don't say much when I have nothing to say. Unfortunatly updates are pretty uninteresting on this website because I, as a lead singer, am very uninteresting. Henceforth, from now on GC84 will consist of nothing more than an 8-track looped on Air Supply and an old Coleco with pong on a black & white television.
George as you know it is dead. Long live the new kings of Art Rock!!! (JJ)

08.24.06
We have a show coming up on Sept. Long Weekend @ the great Dylan O'Conner's Pub on Portage Avenue. If you aren't going out of town or have no major plans, come down and have a drink with the band as we will be playing all night!!! We will be pulling out some oldies as well as some of our better cover songs. Any requests?
New material is slowly being written. Mike is a new daddy and is busy with his new bundle of joy, but there are still music notes in his head. Ian has been travelling around the country and taking time off to enjoy the finer things in life. Blaine is preparing to go back to school in September.
Things are grand in the GC84 camp. Wish you were here.
07.03.06
We have a show coming up on July 13/06 with local heros Sons Of York. We have played with them before in the Power 97's Search For Ra NRG. Good guys, and it should prove to be another exiting show!
On the horizon is new new material that we may or may not record. That all depends on whether the band can pool together enough money to pay for studio time. We are just happy to be able to play a show now and then to the great fans that have been coming out to support us lately. You guys and gals are the reason we rock so hard and keep on doing what we do best.
Other than that we are on a bit of a break as we plan out some more shows and continue writting new material. Hope to see you all very soon.
05.13.06
The Collective Cabaret show was great. We introduced a new song into out lineup and made some new friends with local act Milk Truck. The Dark Town Tango unfortunately double booked so we didn't have a chance to catch them play that night.
Last night at the Zoo we shared the stage with a group called Radio Electric and they sounded great, very southern rock meets northern flair. It was also our first time seeing Tele play. Wow. That is about all I can say at this point in time. If you have not been to one of their shows, we urge you to go. Do not listen to the demo on their Myspace profile, as it does not do any justice to the dynamic and diverse sound they posess.
04.25.06
Well, we're kicked out of Power 97's Search For Ra NRG as we did not advance to the next round. We played a good show and some hacky sack with the boys from The Monty Yanks. Oh well, we may be down but not out, check out the shows section for upcoming gigs!
Another new song will be squeezing it's way into our lineup, called "When She Makes Me Cry". Yes we are quite sensitive young lads, but fear not...it is still full of angst and raw power. Songwriting has been fruitful as of late, so we may have even more great new songs, maybe sneak back into a recording session.
On a side note, it is Mike's B-Day tomorrow, don't forget to wish him well as he gains yet another gray hair and loses more of his sanity.
03.27.06
Wow, last night was a treat! We played with two amazing Winnipeg bands, The NODS, and Dark Town Tango. All three bands were apparently so good that we ALL advanced to Round 3! We just can't say enough about Dark Town Tango - seriously, go check out this band. They put on a show like nothing you've seen before!
Shout out to Clay, Hal, and Heather for all coming down and taking pics for us last night! We'll see you all on April 23rd for Round 3!
03.26.06
Tonight we will split your eardrums at The Pyramid. Get there early for Power 97's Search For Ra NRG as we take the stage first. This should be a good night!!!
See you all tonight. Rock, rock on!!!
03.10.06
We had tonnes o fun at the Zoo last Saturday. A big thanks go out to the Monty Yanks and of course our friends AMF!!! A nice turnout, and some awesome sound by Mark.
We have a confirmed date for round 2 in the Search 4 Ra NRG at the Pyramid. We will have to train hard for this one and hope we make it thru to the 3rd round! Come out one and all to support us in our fight for justice and free rock!
The new song in our lineup is called "Nameless and Faceless" and is about personal issues that make you feel so isolated to everyone around you. Yes, another depressing rock song, but at least it kicks ass. We hope to have a few more new tunes added and if possible venture back into a recording studio to lay down some demos of them in the future. Stay tuned for more kiddies!!!
02.25.06
Ok, so it's been awhile. Ian's down in Mexico, Blaine has some kinda thing called a Birthday today (he says he's only 27, but I suspect older) and Mike has a little one on the way! So we have all been a bit preoccupied as of late.
We do have a few shows lined up, and have a few new songs almost ready for the live show. The band has also been contemplating an early summer mini-tour out west, (not too far, gas ain't cheap!) but have yet to make any definite plans. We will keep you all posted as it unfolds. Writting some new material and sounding as good as we can for our fans is our first priority. Practice and playing live shows will be our foremost concern this year. Be ready for us!!!
A Big Happy Birthday to Blaine as he turns older than he was last year!!! Hoorah!
01.19.06
The Pyramid show was great! We rocked as usual, plus introduced a brand new freshly written song to our lineup. At this time we don't quite have a name for that song, but it kicks enough ass it may not require a name. After much ass kicking had been done, we have advanced to the 2nd round of the "Search for RA NRG" at the Pyramid Cabaret. We will let you all know when that show will be. In the meantime we have a few other things in the works, including new songs and new shows, maybe some video. Stay in touch!
01.08.06
Welcome to our new site! As you can see GATCO84.com has gone through some changes. A new year, a new layout as well as some shows on the way. Be sure to check back for more updates and cool new stuff on the website.

Next on board for us is a little radio stint Power97's "River City Rock Show" Thursday, October 13 at about 11:30pm. We'll be posting more info on that and plus the website will be getting a overhaul in the next few weeks.

If you have not yet been, or if you have been many a time, our next show is a big one at the Planetarium and you should be there. This venue has surround sound and an amazing light show. Be sure to come check this one out as it is a very different venue and we may play some songs you have not heard before. Tell you sister, tell your friends.
Stay tuned for some big announcements!!!
06.24.05 / Mike
Taking a nice break this weekend, going out to the lake and drinking some beers. Maybe I'll catch a fish, who knows.
Our next show is a big one at the Planetarium. Be sure to come check this one out as it is a very different venue and we may play some songs you haven't heard before.
In the meantime, enjoy some samples form our upcoming disc. We've added a crappy Media Player to our site that will have a different song from the disc each week. Enjoy!
06.18.05 / Mike
Not much news to tell ya'll, we are currently trying to line up some more shows. Keep onthe look out for a site overhaul in the future, plus some cool extras for the site. We have been working on some new material but that is on the back burner right now, as we are hoping to release our CD in about a month or two.
06.11.05 / Mike
Well, we didn't make it on Power97's Class of 2005. We didn't rock hard enough, but that won't get us down. We shall continue to fight the good fight and bring our music to the masses. Final touches are being put on our CD, so look out!!! .
06.06.05 / Mike
This week we find out if we made it on Power97's Class of 2005. Each day they will announce a new band and play one of their songs. Here hoping we rocked hard enough to make the cut!
We just got our CD back from mastering and it sounds amazing! Can't wait to get it into your hands. More shows to come, and more updates to this site soon.
06.03.05 / Mike
Well if you have no plans tomorrow night, c'mon out to the West End Cultural Centre for a hell of a shindig. Your truly, George84 will be opening the night at 6:00, so be there early for good seats. Lots of bands and lots of people will be there.
Party Hard!
05.20.05 / Mike
Well first off...Star Wars Ep III was the shit! I will go see again this weekend.
Now to bussiness. We have too great shows for you so far this summer, and all we ask is that you come out and support great local music. Our fight for your right to party starts June 4th @ the West End Cultural Centre. More info to come, but please come out and scream your lungs out. I promise a great evening of local bands. We continue our journey of rock at the Planetarium on July 16th. For those who have not yet been, I hear it is quite a feast for the eyes and ears!
Stay tuned for more updates and news releases regarding our full length album "Weapons Of Mass Distraction" coming soon to a CD player near you.
05.14.05 / Mike
Not too much to say, so I'll keep it short. Yes, we are almost done the album! Mixing is nearing an end, and mastering and manufacturing are iminent. The record should drop soon, as we can't keep it away from the public any longer. More website exclusives coming soon! New show...check to yer right---->
Less than a week for Star Wars Episode III. I'd better pack my lunch!
04.25.05 / Mike
Rock was served on Friday @ the Zoo. Thanks to all that showed up for a great show!!! Shout out to Othello for the count in on Automatic Love Song and Castrati for the SunJammers. AMF, thanks again for rocking our heads off. It will be their last show for a while, and we wish you all well. Pics to follow.
We finally have a mastered 3 song single version ready for your ears. Songs include Automatic Love Song, Burnout, and Speaking Truth. We are entering the Power97 "Class of 2005" this year so wish The Class of '84 luck! If you want a copy of our single catch one of our next shows and we'll toss out out to ya.
Again thanks to all who were at the Zoo Friday. A huge shout to all that partied with AMF back at Ryan's house, you guys are troopers. Fuckin' Eh!
04.04.05 / Blaine
Hey Cool Cats. Just an update on the studio stuff. I estimate that mixing will take maybe another 2 weeks. I've been learning alot about being a mixing engineer and I've decided to redo all the mixes I'd already thought were "done". Apparently knowledge really IS power! I'm excited about how this record is going to sound... and you should be too!
Speaking of mixing, I've removed the rough copy of Beautiful Youth because that one was really rough. You'll get more once it's good and done.
Until next time, keep fit, and have fun!
03.22.05 / Mike
Blaine has been a busy beaver, making things sound good and stuff. Mixing is fun and taking very long but at least we are about 2/3 done. The album art escapes me. Not sure what to have on have on the front of the album. Any suggestions, email me at george84@georgeandtheclassof84.com.
STUDIO PREVIEW!!! We have released a rough mix of 'Beautiful Youth' as a preview of the upcoming album. Blaine also did a cool stripped down mix of me and my acoustic guitar for 'Speaking Truth'. It's only available on the website so give it a listen.
Stay tuned for some more cool sneak peaks!!!
03.15.05 / Blaine
Album update: Mixing is progressing very well. We are working on it every day and it looks as though we may have the mixing done by the end of the month. Look for a September release date for the album.
STUDIO PREVIEW!!! We're releasing a rough mix of Beautiful Youth as a preview of the upcoming album. Sound quality is rough due to it not yet being mastered. Click here to download!
03.08.05 / Mike
Well, we didn't win the Last Band Standing last Wednesday, but we just came to play anyway. Afterall it was our firs show back in 6 months, so you can't expect much.
It was a blast playing with Devoid. Those boys rock and they ended their set with a cover of Metallica's "Creeping Death"! Shit, and we had to follow them.
Lots of mixing to do still. Blaine is going to be working on it for the next while, and he's really determined to get this shit done. This disc is gonna fuckin' rock, so stay tuned for some internet leaks and previews.
02.16.05 / Mike & Blaine
Mix Mix Mix Mix Mix... working hard on the new album! AND SOME SHOWS! We got tired of staring at our computer screen and decided we needed to get out and rock - and we hope you will too!
Now back to mixing...
01.29.05 / Mike
This is the first official update of 2005. We apologize that it took so long, but we've been busy perfecting the recordings for your listening pleasure. I would put up a sample of what we have so far, but Blaine would kill me. But enjoy this instead...
We have some shows in the works for the next few months. We have been on break for the last 4 months and getting the itch to play live again. We will post as soon as we have confirmed dates & details.
Dave from AMF is coming over today to help lend his vocals to one of our songs called 'Dying To Be You'. It should be awesome.
12.24.04 / Mike
George would like to take a moment and wish all friends, family, and fans a very Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!!! Still recording but taking a break to relax and drink and eat. See you in 2005!!!
Mike, Blaine & Ian.
11.29.04 / Blaine
I've made a coup on the site and taken over to make an update! Today we finished recording the guitars and we got through the bass tracks last week. Everything is going really well and we're getting excited about how the new album is going to sound! Vocals should be started next week. We've updated the Media page - taken down some of the cheesy old desktops and added a couple wicked new ones! Check back for more studio updates soon...
11.10.04 / Mike
A long time since our last update. We have been rocking out in our home studio I dubbed "the purple room". We have been recording tons of awsome tracks for the new album. Drums are pretty much done for now. We will move on to Bass & Guitar next. Joy. There are new pics up for recording, check em out. Thanks.
10.17.04 / Mike
The show last night at The Pyramid was awesome. We played our best show this year so far! Thanks to all you crazy fans for coming out and supporting us and the other bands. We didn't think that there was going to be much of a draw, but you proved us wrong yet again. Many thanks to Dead End Drive, Electric Mirage (for inviting us to play), and Girl Friday. We hope to do some shows with them again soon. Check out the pics from the show here.
There are still lots of buttons left if you would like one for $1.00, see us at a show, or Email us you info and we can mail it to you. (How about a free "Mullet EP" if you purchase one!)
Keep on the lookout for future shows, but we currently we will head back into our basement studio to continue the recording process. It is a long road ahead to get this record produced, but it's coming together nicely.
10.07.04 / Mike
Recording is going great. Most of the scratch tracks are done plus we have a few new songs written. Drums will be our first priority and we will begin in about two weeks or so. A new show on the horizon, please check out the detail to your right.
09.02.04 / Mike
New photos are finaly up from our last three shows. Check 'em out here. In other news George is taking another break to commence recording for the full length album. It's a long drawn out proccess, but we guarantee great results. More from us coming soon. Word.
08.24.04 / Mike
Hot damn!!! Our show in Dauphin was cool, not too many people stayed to see George & Doc Brown in action but it was classy shit. Randy from DB played a cover of Foo Fighters "Times Like These" with us, and I (Mike) played "Fire Engine Red" with Doc Brown from their latest disc 'Boy Caught'. The following night at the Zoo was crazy. We met some cool new bands Driven Nation & Lax Luster. We played in between, and boy what a set! George rocked like never before. Photos to come soon. Even though it wasn't our best set, something was clicking that night. We had everyone going and it felt good. Too bad you weren't there. But there is still one more show this week to catch us in action. Look to your right.
Also, on a side note, for those who care, we have been struglling to get all the recording gear into one location so we can begin work on our full length, self produced, independent, etc.. album. So when that happens I'll let you know. But as of right now we are lazy bastards that are taking our sweet ass time!. Ok, it's mostly me, but i'm working on it.
08.11.04 / Mike
Another cool show has been added. It's on a Saturday so hope to see lot's of ya'll out there. We aren't sure if we are opening the show or headlining, or what time it starts. We'll let you know. Oh, yeah, we're also getting funky little button made to sell at our shows. We hope to have T-shirts soon too. Check out the Merch page.
08.05.04 / Mike
Yes a show ladies & gents! We are still working hard on recording, we have finish writting and preproduction will start in the next week. But the long awaited show, is outside of our home town. Should be a HOOT!!! Dauphin was ablast the last time we were there. We are currently planning some local shows so we'll let you know when those happen. Untill then, keep on the look out for more updates. Peace!
07.27.04 / Mike
Not much to update, so I won't. Keep checking back.
07.09.04 / Mike
We have a profile up on a cool website called 'PureVolume.com'. You can check it out here. In other news, some MP3's are back up for listening pleasure. Hope to have some previews of new tunes soon, we'll let you know. Some shows in the works as well, check back soon for details. Thanks.
07.08.04 / Mike
Well I've listed more lyrics in the Music section for the upcoming full length album, plus we now have a working title; "Weapons of Mass Distraction". Recording is getting under way. I was thinking of posting a Studio Log but we'll see. This should be lots of fun for us to record and lots of fun for your ears once we are done. I promise great things. Or at least something cool to pop into your CD player.
06.29.04 / Mike
New lyrics have been added to the Music section. Check 'em out if you have ever wondered what the hell I am talking about.
06.25.04 / Mike
Ok, so I've been slacking a bit. But I promise that the new tunes we have written will blow you away. We are planning some cool shows in the near future so stay tuned for you chance to preview our new audio arsenal. Pre-production on recording has begun, and scratch tracks shall commence recording later this week. Thanks for checking up on us, that's all for now.
05.12.04 / Mike
Sorry for no updates lately, but we have been busy writing new material and plan to begin recording demo tracks very soon. On a side note, I (Mike) will be jumping ship for one show with our friends Doc Brown next week. I'll be doing bass duty as they couldn't reschedule and their bassist will be out of town. Thanks a ton for those guys letting me jam along wit 'em. Peace.
04.24.04 / Mike
I was relaxing today and updating some stuff, and I thinks to myself, "Gee, we don't seem to have any cool downloads for y'all?" So I made some cheesy Desktops you can download here for your PC. Hope you like 'em. Some more pics & video from our dauphin show soon I hope. Tis my B-day tomorrow & I have to go out now and buy my own cake. Later.
04.22.04 / Mike
New pics added today from our Dauphin show! Check em out here. Blaine has a new work schedule, so practices are gonna be spaced out for the next couple of weeks. That means lot's of writting new tunes for me, and hopefully we'll have some new songs recorded in about two months. Things to look forward to kiddies. I will get all of the MP3's working soon, and maybe be posting some live audio as well.
04.21.04 / Mike
Well, thanks to all the bands and (new) fans that were out at the Dauphin show this past Sunday. It was an amazing road trip. We hope to be back sometime soon. A good time was had by all. High Five Drive was nuts, Doc brown was even nuttier. We rocked too. I even cut my finger on a guitar string & bled on stage. It must have been good. Pics and maybe a little live video of the shindig will be available shortly. Thanks!
Sunday, April 18/04 - Dauphin, Manitoba - The Old Firehall

03.20.04 / Mike
Damn!!! Our return to the stage was awsome. Thanks for those who came out to support not only us, but the three other great bands that played, Giv'R, S+O+N & AMF . It looks like everyone had a blast and really enjoyed the music. There will be photos coming from the show, so look out for those; as well be on the look out for MP3's popping up in the future as we start to record some demos. Once again thank you all and we will see you again on stage very soon.

It's official. We have decided on a new name. As of today Slowjam is no more. 'George & the Class of 84' is ready to unleash it's wrath on the world. Beware. Check in soon for updates and a new site.
02.18.04 / Blaine
We are changing the name of the band... we don't know to what yet. If you have a suggestion please email us! We've written alot of songs and if we ever get our act together we'll play a show sometime! Weeeeeeeeeee! End transmission.
01.21.04 / Mike
More crap I threw up. Ian has a new Bio, check it out it made me laugh. Not the LOLOLOLOL...kinda laugh, but a good snap your back-blowing snot out of one nostril kinda laugh. Good times. Anyhoo, The band is writting many new tunes feverishly to get ready for our live shows. We hope to be playing out sometime in February so look out. Some more very cool links added, plus we are now listed on the ever slick Winnipegbands.com!!! Thanks shevil.
01.17.04 / Mike
I also threw up a few Photos just to tide ya'll over untill we start playing out and have live pics.
01.16.04 / Mike
Well I finally put some of the MP3's up. Yee Haw. Check out the Music section to download now! Maybe some new tunes once we record them and maybe I'll put up some old video that no one has ever seen of us back in our hayday. Catch you on the flip-side man.
01.06.04 / Mike
Not much happening other than the New Year, so Happy New Year all. The band has been writing and jamming a lot in the past few weeks. Many new songs on the way and an explosive live show. The majwolS can't wait to get back on stage, and Blaine's bass sound is seriously kicking ass. Thanks to Holly for buying him that cool Bass Overdrive pedal that he wanted so badly for Christmas. Once again you have contributed greatly to the bands sound and growth. Shout out to all of you who still actually visit this site.
12.04.03 / Mike
New site is up and running with a new look and apparently Blaine has told that I am not to do any more updates because my copy sucks ass, so this will be my last update. Fuck.
10.18.03 / Blaine
Just for Dave... I promised him I'd update the site. This one's for you, man.
Slowjam... is currently in the early stages of reforming. We're still working out the details of a lineup (possibly 3-piece... maybe 4). Also, do we keep the name? At this point we've jammed a few times and we're going to start writing new material shortly. If all goes well, we have a goal to be back on stage by next spring (who the hell wants to gig in winter anyway?).
Here's something important to all humans: Planet Earth! Here's something you can do to make a difference: David Suzuki's Nature Challenge! Check it out - it's simple and it does matter!
Copies of The Mullet EP are still available and for really cheap. Email me and ask how to get one.
PS - The band AMF (Aerocar Model Four) seriously rocks and if they come to your town, you best check them out!
If you have any questions feel free to email us.
